Myths About Cat Grooming
FAQs
Cats do groom by licking, but this is not the same as a full bath or professional grooming. Licking removes some dirt, but it cannot remove grease, odor, mats, or tangles. Cats also cannot trim their nails or brush out mats, and most cats’ teeth aren’t brushed regularly—meaning bacteria and debris can accumulate. Regular professional grooming helps prevent health issues, hairballs, and excessive dander, which can worsen allergies. Long-haired cats are especially prone to getting litter, urine, or feces stuck in their fur, which can be uncomfortable for them and messy for your home.
While most cats are naturally cautious around water, they do enjoy feeling clean. Professional grooming provides a safe and gentle bathing experience, often leaving cats feeling refreshed and comfortable. Many cats are surprisingly cooperative during a professional groom when handled correctly.
Professional cat grooming is an investment in your cat’s health and comfort. Unlike human haircuts, grooming a cat requires specialized knowledge, handling skills, and equipment to manage mats, fleas, ear cleaning, sanitary trims, and other challenges. The first groom may cost more due to initial maintenance or problem areas, but ongoing maintenance appointments are usually less expensive. Our groomer is specialized in providing expertise in breed-specific coats, temperaments, and health considerations. Regular grooming can eliminate much of the at-home maintenance and keep your cat healthy and comfortable.
